Travis Kelce, star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has always been a popular figure in the NFL, but his profile has reached new heights since he started dating music icon Taylor Swift. Their relationship has put an even brighter spotlight on Kelce, with cameras constantly following the action both on the field and in the luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium, where Swift and her friends often watch the games.
But what do Kelce’s close friends think of all this added attention? His best friend, Aric Jones, recently shared his thoughts with Page Six, and it seems the crew is taking it all in stride.
“I’m never going to downplay [the hype] or say it’s not the coolest thing in the world,” Jones said about the surge of media attention. “But, at the same time, all we got to do is be us. The only thing that’s changed is that there’s a camera in the suite now.”
Jones and Kelce have been tight since their elementary school days in Cincinnati, Ohio. Today, Jones runs his lifestyle brand, Homebred Legends, but the two have remained close through all the ups and downs. When asked how he felt about Swift, Jones didn’t hesitate to show his appreciation for the superstar.
“Taylor’s great. She’s her own woman,” he added. “If she wants to join us on our theme nights, of course, we welcome it. But honestly, just having her there to support Travis and hang out with us is enough.”
Swift has missed the Chiefs’ last two games, but her presence in the stadium has already become a hot topic of discussion. Fans and commentators alike are constantly speculating on whether she’ll be at the next game. According to reports, there’s a good chance she’ll be cheering on Kelce for Monday night’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
With kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. E.T. on ESPN, all eyes will be on the game—and possibly, once again, on Swift’s suite.
Kelce’s friend group, it seems, is more than happy to embrace Swift and the whirlwind that comes with dating one of the biggest pop stars in the world. At the end of the day, though, it’s all about supporting each other and keeping things grounded. For Kelce and his crew, that means focusing on the game and enjoying the moments they share, cameras or not.
