The clock is ticking on what seems to be an inevitable trade involving Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wide receiver, Davante Adams. His request to be traded earlier this week didn’t surprise many, especially given his frustrations with the team. After missing last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to a so-called “hamstring injury,” it was clear that the star wideout’s days in Vegas were numbered.
Adams’ discontent began brewing when the Raiders traded quarterback Derek Carr, his former college teammate and the reason he originally wanted to play in Las Vegas. Without Carr, Adams has felt increasingly disconnected from the organization.
On Thursday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided new insights into Adams’ situation. According to Rapoport, Adams has a preferred destination in mind: the New York Jets. This move would reunite him with Aaron Rodgers, his former quarterback in Green Bay, with whom he shared years of on-field success.
However, while the idea of Adams catching passes from Rodgers once again makes sense, it’s far from guaranteed. The Raiders are expected to make decisions based on the best deal for their organization, not just Adams’ preferences. As Rapoport put it, “While players can influence where they go—especially if they need to rework their contracts to make a trade happen—they don’t have the final say.”
Aside from the Jets, Adams has shown flexibility regarding his future. Several other teams have reportedly caught his eye, including the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers.
At 31 years old, Adams is still widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top receivers. Even in a challenging season with the Raiders, he managed to rack up 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns, despite the team’s quarterback struggles.
So, where will Adams land? With several teams in need of a dominant wide receiver, the answer might come down to who offers the best deal for Las Vegas. Fans across the league are waiting with anticipation, and whichever team lands Adams will be gaining a true difference-maker.
